Microcosmo

Simone Crestani x Suri

Picturing the shape of a seabed dweller by putting on an earring; emerging from the water with a coral hanging around your neck, a starfish pinned to your chest or an abyssal promise put through your finger. Microcosmo, the collection of jewelry that I made with Suri, blends glass and metals exploiting the alchemy of the elements with an oxidation effect and deposit. The result looks like the time sunk in salt water. Being challenged and surprised by the materials was the greatest inspiration of my first collection of jewellery, which evokes the underwater world, the zoological tables of Ernst Haeckel and the possibilities of artistic research integrated with another craftsmanship.

I created small marine organisms in glass; Suri dealt with shapes to decide how best to fit objects and turn them into contemporary jewelry. They have become rings, pendants, pins and earrings, bright and textured, surprising as only natural forms can be. Unique pieces that decorate and complement the part of the body they wear. They bloom in your hair, they twinkle between your fingers, they light up the clothes you wear, they soften your face with reflections steal from the water.

A happy collaboration in which the knowledge of the respective materials has found compensation and amplification through the creative potential, thanks also to admiration, trust and sharing practical and aesthetic insights.
